James Spann is Chief Meteorologist at ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Alabama, where he has served for 28 years following earlier work in both Alabama and Texas markets. His 46-year broadcast career has focused on delivering critical weather information across television, radio, and The Alabama Weather Blog. James was among the first in the nation to earn the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation. He launched the pioneering WeatherBrains podcast in 2006 and is now leading a new initiative, The Alabama Weather Network, to expand local weather coverage across the state.
