ON-DEMAND WEBINAR

U.S. Lightning Activity in 2022
An Expert’s Perspective

In this on-demand webinar, lightning scientist Dr. Elizabeth DiGangi shares her scientific perspective on the total lightning activity that AEM detected in 2022 across the United States.

Drawing on data captured by our extensive and technologically advanced lightning network, she delves into the interesting lightning behavior associated with a variety of severe weather and climate-related events in 2022, including severe snowstorms, intense hurricanes, and sudden wildfires.

Some topics she covers include:
  • Which states and counties experienced the most lightning activity
  • Which states and counties experience thunderstorms the most often (HINT: It’s not always the same as those with the most lightning activity)
  • What lightning activity in hurricanes can tell us about their strength
